Antenatal Clinic

Patients are seen by the Midwife at clinics by appointment.

Baby Clinic

The Baby Clinics are run on Tuesday and Thursday mornings by the Health Visitors. Our Practice Nurses run simultaneous clinics for immunisations and these are by appointment only.

Long-term Condition Clinics

The Nursing Team run clinics for all long-term conditions including diabetes, asthma and chronic heart disease. You will normally receive an annual invitation to attend and the letter will give details of how to book an appointment.

Family Planning

The practice provides a full range of family planning services. Most of our Nurses are trained in giving contraceptive advice.

Well Woman Checks

The Practice Nurses can provide information on various women’s health issues including the menopause, HRT, breast awareness. They also perform smear tests.

Minor Surgery

Most of the Doctors carry out minor surgical procedures in Beccles Hospital by appointment.

Non-NHS Examinations

The Doctors are happy to carry out medicals, eg insurance and driving licence, by appointment outside surgery hours. Please telephone for an appointment and for details of charges for these services.

Counselling

There is a Counsellor working from the practice who is employed by the PCT. There is also a Mental Health Link Worker. Appointments are available only after referral by your Doctor. Patients Over 75 Years If you are aged 75 years or over, you should be seen annually either by your Doctor, the Practice Nurse, District Nurse or Health Visitor. This can be arranged at the surgery or, if that is not possible, a home visit will be arranged.

Travel Clinic

Comprehensive travel advice and/or vaccinations can be provided at Beccles Medical Centre by a member of our practice nursing team. The practice is an authorised Yellow Fever Centre.

If you are due to travel abroad please ask at reception for a travel questionnaire (one per traveller) which needs to be completed as fully as possible and returned to the surgery.

Before you are contacted with an appointment the nurse will assess your travel health needs, so please complete and return your forms in good time. We use this information so that we can give you appropriate advice and offer you any necessary vaccinations to ensure that you are fully prepared for your trip. Once your travel needs have been assessed you will be contacted so that we can make a suitable appointment for you to see a practice nurse.

Test Results

Please telephone the practice during opening hours to obtain the results for your investigations (it is easier to get through if you phone after 11.00am).

You should wait until at least a week after your test has been carried out. The Doctor will usually advise the receptionist of your results, allowing information to be passed to you over the telephone.

Sometimes the Doctor may want to discuss your result with you and you may be asked to make an appointment. Where appropriate the Doctor may wish to speak to you by telephone. The reason for this is that some laboratory results are complicated to translate and are therefore better explained by your Doctor.

Specimens may be left at the reception desk any weekday before 3.00pm (except semen specimens which must be either taken direct to the James Paget Hospital or brought into the Health Centre before 11am on a Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday only). Please ensure that the specimen containers are properly labelled as investigations will not be carried out on unlabelled specimens.

There is disabled access to all of the buildings on the site. There are also disabled WCs in each building and a limited number of allocated parking spaces.

We will always make arrangements to see patients that have difficulty getting upstairs in downstairs rooms. Please ask at reception when you book your appointment if you would like us to ensure your appointment takes place downstairs.
